Hits like “Priti guoman”, “Enajenada” or the so famous “Time goes by con Loli”  have catapulted her to fame in a very short time, having a lot of job requests, singing at the Cannes Awards ceremony among them. However, what she still loves is touch with public and with the gay environment, declaring herself “another queer”.

She was born in Móstoles, Madrid, in an uncertain date. She studied English, French and Catalan. She worked as Au pair in the United Kingdom and as a cabaret star. Later on she came back to begin her theater career in 1999, with the group Diabéticas Aceleradas. Her measures are 110-90-110 cm. Today she lives in Palma de Mallorca, where she used to run a bar in Sant Jordi, a village near the capital, although this bar was transferred.

Pepa Charro, known as La terremoto de Alcorcón (The Earthquake of Alcorcon), has been kind to give an interview to BCNISGAY.COM.

-Did you expect your first video “Time goes by with Loli” to be an impact like this? We remember that it appeared even in several national TV news.

The most wonderful things of the world happen when one does not even foresee, plan, know them... look at that, one enters in a dark room and they never know what is going to come out of there... is not fate wonderful? You know, when Spain Google calls us and tells us that we are the second most viewed video, before Madonna´s, we almost go crazy.

-Was it from that moment onwards that you became friend with Madonna, or was it from before?

No, it was not. My stuff with Madonna comes from the shooting of “Buscando a Susan”, we got closer to each other, I will not tell you how much, and later on our friendship got stronger. I even babysitted her children, who now call me auntie Earthquake...

-There are people who do not understand your sense of humor...

There are people who even does not understand the difference between a transvestite and a transsexual... you know what I mean...

-All the hustle and bustle created by Terremoto and her world has made people believe that a phenomenon commonly known as the “re-scene” was reemerging, does that time mean an inspiration for you?

Not especially, but yes, I have been surrounded by people of that generation and I have sucked everything. I get my inspiration from rococo...

-A lot things have been said about you: you are a transvestite, a drag queen and even you consider yourself a queer woman... Could you clarify to us who the Terremoto really is?

Terremoto is pan-sexual, that is she is able to love another person reagardless of their gender. And that is the greatest thing.

-What does a song have for you to decide to make a version out of it?

What songs rarely have nowadays. Greatest hits are more and more scarce each day.

This is a link to the last song making a version of my friend and partner Kylie´s new hit “All the lovers”. This version is much of a sensation in Mexico...

-Has the fact of making a version or “smashing”, as you have said some time, meant having more friends or enemies within a so competitive industry as music is?

My music is not part of the usual market, it does not hinder friends of music, on the contrary, it helps to certain songs to become more popular, sometimes even making them better, although it may not be nice that I say it so. Besides, I do not even consider myself a singer...

-How was singing at Cannes festival before Tarantino, Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts?

What do you think! What a moment! I could not believe it... Singing Pretty Woman before Julia Roberts herself or dressing up like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill wearing a tracksuit from Bershka before Tarantino. Drinking a toast with Gael García Bernal, or singing “Un año de amor” together with Pedro Almodóvar and Victoria Abril, sharing a dressing room with Javier Cámara and Jean Paul Gaultier...

-You are considered to embody the gay world and an icon, you even were given an award for that. We have a lot to thank you, but we would like to know what do you appreciate from this “queer” public that love you.

There are no words to express how grateful I am... I almost prefer to remember what my gay icon award plaque said. “La Terremoto Dealarcón”, hahaha...

-As the gay icon you are, I guess you are getting ready for the Pride, where are we going to see you?

At the Spain Square and on the Shangay float, a classic... Everybody in the streets on July 3rd!

-Did you know that your friend Kylie will act at the Spain Square of Madrid after the Pride parade for free?

I will do the same, don´t you find it great? The reunion since “Me estoy poniendo morá”… a version of her “Can´t get you out of my head”

-Do you know whether the town council of Alcorcón have in mind to put a street or a square in your honour?

I have already asked for a roundabout to mayor Cascallana and they are working on it...
